3. 31st August 2007 - A National Day Parade at Padang Pahlawan, Banda Hilir.
The National Day celebrations often include exhibitions of the nation's history, a fireworks display etc.

The proclamation of the date of independence by Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister took place at Padang Banda Hilir ( Padang Pahlawan ) in Melaka on 20th February 1956 and became part of the Federation of Malaysia on 1963.
