MELAKA FLORATHON 2008



Hi there! It's been long time i am not updating this blog. Actually, i having a lot of work in my REAL JOB. Today i want to share with my readers about MELAKA FLORATHON 2008.

Care to take a brisk 3-km walk on a sunny Sunday morning at Taman Botanikal, Ayer Keroh, Melaka? But this is not just any walkathon. Yes, you have to dress up in your floral or fruity best to join us. Imagine streets full of giant bobbing flowers and delicious fruits with arms and legs, making their way towards the finishing line and participants will be judged not by speed but by their floral theme costumes.

Happening concurrently will be the Bunga Raya Waiter's Race, a sub component of the Florathon, where floral or fruity participants have to balance the Bunga Raya mocktail on a tray with one hand throughout the route.

So, what are you waiting for? Join in the fun and you may stand a chance to win cash prizes. A total of RM15,900 cash prizes up to grabs. No entry fee.

Located about 28km away from the city centre, the Hutan Rekreasi Sungai Udang is the ideal spot to get away and lose yourself amidst the amazing flora and fauna. Visitors are able to view over 100 hectares of greenery, go jungle trekking as well as camping. Also located in this recreational area is the Tropical Rainforest Open Museum that also serves as forestry research centre.

Melaka Cendol, Cencaluk And Dodol

Melaka Waterfall

Its location may seem ironic but could not make more sense. The Bukit Sebukor Waterfall is located along one of Melaka's busiest roads, so it appears to give the area a sense of senerity amongst the chaotic traffic. The waterfall is manmade and is reported to have cost almost RM1.78 million. It stands at 30 metres high, and a walkway has even been built alongside it for visitors to get close to the waterfall and enjoy in the beautiful sight.

The Melaka Tropical Fruit Farm was formerly known as the Sungai Udang Agro Park. Beside being the best location to look at and get some of the freshest tropical fruits like durian, rambutan and others, the venue also serves as an agricultural training centre. If you're lucky and visit during the right seasons, you'll also get the opportunity to taste some delicious fruits grown right here at the centre.

The Taman Lebah Sedunia is an exhibition venue which offers an invaluable insight into the process of breeding and raising honeybees. Upon their visit, visitors will also be able to learn how honey is harvested and refined for sale. There is also a tall glass cabinet which showcases millions of live bees at the farm. Jonker Walk is where the most interesting shopping activities take place. The street contains every imaginable trade:spirit importers, hairdressing salons, wooden shoe stores, apothecaries with Chinese herbs on display, sign printers, an acupunture clinic, several furniture factories and etc. There is also combination craft shop and restaurant with a Peranakan ambience. Melaka Crocodile Farm


Housing more than 200 crocodiles of various species, the Crocodile Farm is a place you must pay a visit to when you're in Melaka. These reptiles can be seen basking in the sun in their designated ponds in the park. If you're an adventure lover, this is the opportunity for you to study the crocodiles up close. Melaka River - A River Of History

If you're a history buff, then chances are you've already read up on the history of Melaka. It is believed that Prince Parameswara had named the area after the Melaka tree, which he was sitting under when he witnessed a feisty mousedeer outsmarting his dog. The tree he was sitting on was along the banks of the Melaka River, which has over the last couple of years been turned into the tourist spot with the Popular River Cruise
